Prairie High School students are getting a taste of something new this year as Mr. Seth Muck, formerly a history and English teacher, steps into the kitchen as the school’s new culinary arts instructor. After two years guiding students through essays and historical events, Mr. Muck is now donning an apron and sharing his passion for cooking in his third year at Prairie.
Mr. Muck’s journey to the culinary classroom is a unique one. “I was so ecstatic to be back at prairie, the circumstances weren’t the best but I love prairie and I want to be here.” he explained. “It has been a bit difficult to teach a new subject, I have had to learn a lot in the past couple months but it’s been a good change of pace and really fun.”
The transition has brought a fresh energy to both the teacher and his students. In his new role, Mr. Muck is helping students master kitchen basics, explore world cuisines, and more. Mr. Muck might not have primarily study culinary arts but his background in owning a small business in the food industry has helped him in leading this class.
As Mr. Muck begins his third year at Prairie High, he reflects on his teaching journey with excitement. In the future whether he is still teaching culinary or maybe back in english he says “I would love to keep teaching foods, I really just want to be at prairie so im happy teaching whatever.” With Mr. Muck teaching here, Prairie’s culinary arts program is cooking up a bright and delicious future.
