Prairie High School’s drama club is performing their adaptation of Six! here at Prairie on November 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd.
The musical Six! tells the story of Henry VIII and his six wives, represented by a singing contest and pop concert. The show takes a historical event and turns it into an inspiring story, promoting girl power and womanhood. The musical is complete with energetic, pop styles of singing and dancing and will guarantee that viewers will leave with at least one of the songs in their head. “What makes this one different is that the music is very contemporary, very catchy, very fun.” Prairie teacher, Oliver Root, says after attending Six!
Six!, as some might have seen, is an all-female cast. The writers of the show specifically wrote the play to showcase women’s talents in the acting industry and to show the world that women can do everything a man can and more. Prairie’s drama company currently holds many young women who are motivated and ready for challenges. “This particular group is just so open and willing to do things.” Prairie’s Director, Claire Verity says. “They love what they do and they just make it a joyful experience.”
Overall, this show is a must for all who attend Prairie High School. Not only does the show include humor and catchy songs, but it most importantly incorporates meaningful life lessons that anyone in the audience can absorb. “Everyone will learn something from it and everyone will take something away from it.” Teacher, Oliver Root, says. So come out and support our very own drama club as they put on an unforgettable show!
