Throughout history, art has always been a part of human society. There are many forms of art, whether it be clay, painting, digital, drawing, and many more. Throughout prairie high school, you can find many different types of art. Examples of this being through clothing, our very special classes, the art to be found around, and the soul within prairie highschool.
One of our art teachers, Robert Shadle, loves everything about art. Shadle teaches drawing and painting, and expressed that he loves seeing what his students can make. Shadle says he doesn’t quite have a favorite project he loves to see students create, and that he sees something great in all of them. “I love seeing the creative spirit and what people can do, and I believe there is no limitation to the creative mind.” says Shadle.
On the flip side, Shadle’s students love the class. One of his students, Elie Pitsel, in his second period expressed that she overall enjoys the class and thinks it easy and fun. Elie expressed that she wasn’t actually planning on taking art, but so far, she doesn’t mind it. “My favorite project was the scratchboard animal, being able to show texture and a lot of detail through drawing a Ram.” says Elie.
When asked what Elie thinks others should keep in mind when entering the class, she expressed to stay caught up. Stay involved, even with the little things. Don’t be lazy, because that’s how you can quickly fall behind.
Other students have claimed that they love the fun that comes from the class. Whether it be the projects themself, or the fun music he plays throughout their classes. Many students have recommended that new students take the class, expressing that it’s fun, it’s easy, and you get to connect with yourself and others more through the love of art.
Overall, art throughout the classes, and the school are the foundation of life and how we as people show others who we are and how we feel. You can always find student art around the school, and sometimes you don’t even have to look at a canvas to see it.
