Each volleyball game has specific challenges for the players. Avery Eterno, four year varsity captain libero, touches on the hardships of the game and insight on the team’s lessons, both pre and post gameday. “We watched lots of films and planned our defense off their offense. I personally watched some previous games as well. Union is a strong serving team, so we understood that in order to win the game, we first needed to win the serve and pass portion,” said Eterno.
Not only did the game teach lessons, the game gave the players a sense of relief and reassurance in their performance. Junior Ellie Moore, a two year starting middle, says post victory, “Even if it was hard during moments it was all worth it in the end. The game got really competitive, so it was fun to win,” Moore.
After the amusing win, the girls continue to strive in their attitudes and skill. The team is a very talented group of individuals but their mentality plays the biggest role in their outcome. Avery Eterno says,”It’s all about effort, skill does you nothing if you don’t genuinely care for the game.
