Prairie Athletics Nominated Senior Captain Mia Hasselblad as Athlete of the month.

Mia shows great excellence and shows perseverance on and off the mat.

Hasselblad started wrestling her senior year and was awarded her own varsity captain title by her own teammates.Hasselblad says, ‘’I was surely surprised, but it feels great and gives me an opportunity to present leadership and bring my team together in unity.’’

In the district, Hasselblad placed 3rd, making her A state qualifier, sending her to the Tacoma Dome to represent prairie athletics, going into each of her matches with an intense mindset and attitude, drowning out the noise and focusing on the match in front. Hasselblad went to state going 3-2.

Although she started late, many would say her wrestling looks otherwise. Assistant Workout Trainer Kyle Sharpe says, ‘’ strength and technique creates a double-threat wrestler and Mia’s focus and concentration make her one’’  Hasselblad represented dedication, leadership and perseverance all season and this never went unnoticed. It showed up in her matches and the way she carries herself as an athlete.
