Prairie high school volleyball takes first loss in the season against Camas, at Camas high school on October 28, 2025.
The Falcons put in their full effort and adversity going into the preparation for this game. In the coming days before the game, the girls knew this would be their most difficult challenge of the season; As they were facing the #1 team in 4A and we were #1 in 3A. Even though they had been unstoppable all season, this Camas team was planning on testing how good we were. In the first set we quickly gained a lead on the Papermakers but sadly fell to them 25-13. Regrouping as a team before set 2, Coach Jen and team captains brought the team together to give a mental reset and show that we were still in this game and could compete with this team. After aggressively rallying for the better half of all of set 2 the Falcons fell to the Papermakers again 25-20.
We still were not down on our though, even down 0-2 sets that had the chance of accomplishing a reverse sweep. An intense 3rd set took place and coming down to the final match points the Falcons and Papermakers were tied at 21-21 when we were able to gain an ace and take the lead for the first time at 22-21. Unfortunately though Camas was able to go on a run and finish off the 3rd set 25-22.
The Falcons lost their first game of the season but they didn’t let that stop them and were able to finish out their season winning. As junior Ellie Moore expressed, “It was a tough loss for us but we still gave it our all.” Moore also says, “ We also continued to use our HRT moto to get us through the game and the rest of our season.” Sophomore Lejla Tanjo adds, “Even though we lost, I’m proud of my team.” Tanjo also adds, “We played well and had great communication.”
The girls will continue to grow their resilience and play strong. They continue to stay positive, have each other’s backs, and put in 100% effort throughout the rest of the season.
