Prairie’s fall 2022 varsity and junior varsity boys tennis teams’ season came to a wrap as they fought in their district matches at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Washington.

Over the course of their season, they worked endlessly and ultimately made it to districts. Between the varsity and JV teams, there was a large variety of underclassmen and upperclassmen, and each player contributed to their achievement of getting to districts.

Their season ended with a 5-9-1 record. First-team All-League players included junior Nate Merritt and senior James Marjama. Second-team All-League players included Micah Nelson and Jonathan Moll. The team’s conference record was 2-3.

“We improved by learning to have more fun with the game and taking some of the seriousness out of the game and taking time to enjoy it,” said Nate Merrit, a co-captain of Prairie’s boy’s tennis team. Merrit credits the team’s success to their head coach Peter Aleman; “he encouraged us throughout the season and taught us a lot,” said Merrit.

Jonathan Moll, a sophomore exchange student from Germany, plays on the Prairie boy’s team. He decided to play tennis because he “played at home and really wanted to play sports while here in America.” Jonathon says the upperclassmen and coaching staff were “very supportive.” This support took Moll a long way as he made second-team all-league by the end of the season.

With the Prairie’s boy’s tennis team making it to districts and improving their skills individually and as a team, the Falcons boys were very successful in their 2022 tennis season.
