The prevailing Prairie Falcons girls volleyball team is heading to the WIAA 3a and 4a state tournament this weekend in Yakima Valley Sundome November 21st-22nd, to compete for a 3a state title.
This year makes it the fourth appearance in a row at the tournament. Their dominant 17-1 regular season has shown that the Falcons are a real competitor for the title senior Avery Eterno stated“ we’ve been able to overcome adversity because we have such a deep roster not necessarily player wise but all of our starters can play any position” this feat has been essential to Prairies huge success this season, and will be a contributing factor this weekend in their battles for a state title.
Though the Falcons have been a fearful force this season, there’s a lot more to their success than what is shown on the court. Their constant work in the offseason and in practice to not only grow as individuals but as a whole shows the true dedication of every player. Everyday they are bettering themselves and growing a stronger bond with one another every chance they get, even in tough situations during a game junior Lexi Whedon said, “ We always support each other which is a huge help… If that’s coming together in a huddle and talking about it or just a quick talk to someone on the court, we always push through as a team no matter the issue.”
Following that, the Falcons look to fight until the last point is scored no matter who they’re playing, Whedon stated, “ the discipline we have is the main reason we’ve gotten to where we are this season.” their efforts to always do their job no matter what is a reason they’re able to overcome adversity and come out on top.
They have high expectations for each other this weekend as they face some of their toughest opponents yet, however this does not bring them down yet it sparks more motivation, Eterno stated, “ I think everyone brings something to the floor, and we have a solid core”, their high confidence in each other is a huge part of the teams foundation and how they are able to play so well together in any game, going into this weekend with their confident plans to execute every play and play as one will be thrilling to see in the big tournament this weekend.
