Christopher Jackson is Teacher of the Week at Prairie High School because he is understanding, helpful, and very kind. Mr. Jackson is the type of teacher to make a way to help his students out in any little possible way. He is always praising his students no matter what and sees the potential and greatness in all.
Walking past the upstairs 400 hall, you can see Mr. Jackson standing outside greeting people and starting conversations. He loves to talk with students and always hears out different opinions, views, and beliefs. As someone who does see him in the hall walking to 6th and stops and talks to Mr. Jackson, Shadae Jacques says, “He is very kind and I love when he chats it up with me. He listens to my stories sometimes and always hears about my day. It’s nice to be checked up on and it always brightens my day.” He is always there for the students at Prairie and Battle Ground during the hours he does online. It is nice to see someone trying really hard to understand and connect with students.
Mr. Jackson’s classroom is a really warm and welcoming place. Most of his students would describe his classroom as “chill.” It has a nice yellow light setting that is more calming and easier on the eyes, which makes being in the classroom feel better. He also has his chairs set up in a fun, unique way so that the students face each other and can interact more and see him wherever he is walking around in the classroom lecturing. To top it all off, he has many posters and plants to make the classroom more unique and feel a little more filled up. He truly makes his classroom a better place for students in any type of way.
As a teacher, he has many good qualities and is very appreciated and loved by them. Willingly, he puts in a lot of work and invests in his students. He has a good “respect goes both ways” relationship and works great with his students, giving mercy but also keeping a professional setting. Speaking with Willow Goggin Hays about Jackson’s good qualities, she had to add, “I like Mr. Jackson as a teacher. He’s very hardworking and even if I turn in something late, he will get that in right away. It shows how much he cares knowing that students also get overwhelmed and drained.” In general, Mr. Jackson is known as a kind-hearted man around the school and is always willing to help.
In all, he is a great teacher and conversationalist striving for the best. We are lucky to have him as our new psychology teacher this year and hope to have him next year! All applauds to Mr. Jackson, a hardworking teacher.
