Amanda Doucette, a math teacher, has found nothing but a positive experience at Prairie High School. Doucette started her journey in Nevada, attending the University of Nevada, Reno. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in dual math and statistics and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno. After she graduated, she decided that she wanted to be a teacher and got her alternate route teaching license. In addition, she got her teacher’s certification from an online program. Soon after, Doucette returned to college, attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, acquiring her graduate certification in post-secondary mathematics.
After her college endeavors, Doucette and her family moved to Yacolt, Washington. She received a job and became a rehabilitation center teacher in the area. A job opportunity arose at Prairie High School, looking for a teacher who wanted to teach in the math department. She took the job as it was close to home and she needed a new job.
Doucette was fascinated by the Prairie staff and students in her first year of being a teacher at Prairie High School. Doucette has experienced “nothing but a positive experience at Prairie High School”. She has finally found a good fit for her and a community she loves.
Doucette loves the math department and all the teachers involved with her and her class. Doucette wanted to give a shoutout to Mr. Omen and Mrs. Smith for helping her in her first year and being amazing mentors to her.
One of her top students, Isabella Scotty, took two classes with Doucette, in her junior and senior year of high school. Scotty appreciates Doucette’s teaching style, making sure that all her students have lots of notes and multiple examples for further help. Scotty states that “ Doucette is always willing to help you out in the best way possible”. Scotty loves that Doucette is super helpful allowing her to feel more confident in math.
