With our phones glued to our hands constantly, their presence in school became a huge topic. In an era where there are apps made for everything, there are always some apps that top others. This is proven at Prairie High school because out of the 50 students questioned about what their most used app is, 21 of those students agreed that they use TikTok the most. Coming close, there were 13 students who agreed that Instagram is their most used app.

When speaking to student Peyton Gibson, she was the one that agreed that TikTok was her most used app. Gibson says, “My daily average on my phone per day is around 12 hours and around 8 of those hours I spend on TikTok because I can watch a bunch of different types of videos all on the same app.” Unlike Gibson, student Amaya Reign was a part of the 13 that says her favorite app is instagram. Reign states, “I try not to spend too much time on my phone, but when I do go on it, I usually just scroll through Instagram photos and make my own posts.”

Since TikTok and Instagram were voted most used, I wondered if they agree that these are the most popular apps and Gibson responds with, “Yes, I knew this would be the most voted because all teenagers are constantly online, whether it’s for creating posts or just doom-scrolling, watching videos. When asking Reign the same question, she responds with, “I think a lot of people would agree that Instagram is a popular app, but I do think there are others that might top it, even though many tend to spend hours scrolling through and liking pictures.”
