Prairie High School’s mascot, Frankie the Falcon, plays an important role in creating excitement and school spirit throughout the campus. From sporting events to school activities, Frankie helps bring students together and encourages and brings a positive atmosphere.

Frankie the Falcon is often seen at Prairie High School events, where the mascot’s presence boosts energy and morale in the student section and crowd. On December 15th, Prairie High School’s principal Watts answers a variety of questions about Frankie Prairie’s mascot in her office to gain information on her thoughts about what makes Frankie so special to this school. According to Watts, Frankie helps create enthusiasm among students. “When Frankie is around, we see a lot of hype from the people around,” she says. Watts, who has been principal at Prairie High School for one year and previously served as athletic director, believes the mascot represents the school well by uniting students and staff.

 Mrs. Homola, a math teacher at Prairie also adds her opinion on Frankie to understand another’s opinion of our mascot here at Prairie High. Homola, has been a high school teacher  for over 15 years, who also sees the impact Frankie has on the school community. She shared that Frankie “brings excitement to the school.” She explained that the mascot helps make events more fun and engaging for students of all ages. 

Both staff members agree that Frankie the Falcon represents Prairie High School’s spirit. Homola said she would not change anything about the mascot and believes the falcon represents the school perfectly. Mrs. Watts added that one of her favorite things about Frankie is how the mascot gets students excited, especially younger kids.

Overall, Frankie the Falcon helps give students excitement while strengthening school pride. Whether cheering on teams or walking around campus, Frankie continues to be an important symbol of Prairie High School.
