There are many misconceptions about What the Viral “6-7” Joke means. Students, adults and children all have different ideas and connections to the joke. But believe it or not, there is an actual root to the drug out meme. To many the joke has no meaning, it’s just for fun, which ultimately is true. Although a lot of people just do not know where it came from.

To prairie students, the joke is heard often without a doubt, Senior Collin Mackey says, “I hear someone say 6-7 at least once an hour at school.”  “6-7 means absolutely nothing, and the joke is overused and unfunny.” “we are in a big drought of humor, that’s the only reason the joke became so popular.” “Typically people who are younger use the joke, underclassmen or middle schoolers.”

With the opinions of highschool students here at prairie, Laurin middle schooler Hunter Zehel Has a different perspective.  “I hear 6-7 every class period a day.” “I think the joke is really funny.” “the joke came from the rapper named skrilla, but it’s really just numbers.” 

With Multiple Sources and opinions that relate to the Viral joke, There is A timeline and domino effect that falls into place behind the meaning of the joke. The first factor upon research was  NBA basketball player LaMelo Ball When he announced His height was 6 feet and 7 inches tall, his hands were moving up and down indicating “maybe this maybe that,” type of uncertainty. LaMelos interview was inspired by a song released Prior by, by rapper Skrilla, titled, “Doot doot (67).” In which this rapper quotes “6-7”in the lyrics, in that tone of uncertainty. From then the whole joke spiraled out everywhere excessively, a young fan dubbed the “6-7 kid,” Maverick Trevillian Shows him excitedly shouting 6-7 at a basketball game, this clip also went viral. 

Going forward many Influencers and celebrities began to use the joke in their content or media.
