Prairie high school organizes a HOSA blood drive coming up next month to help the community.
HOSA is having a blood drive in late January. It’s important for the community, as one student, Payton Miller says “ You can save 3-6 lives with every blood donation. It’s such a good way to give back to people around you and help those who are in need.” In addition, HOSA contributes to the American red cross, which provides for 48% of nations blood. With this, Prairie High school’s HOSA club wants to have as many people for the next blood drive.
To prepare students for the drive, HOSA advocates for, “calmness, low stress, and making sure they ate a good meal and to keep a good environment.” Says vice president, Payton Miller. They also make sure to go to lunches and host tables that provide all the information needed and the benefits provided. This program is “very heavily a student-runned program”. Mrs Reid explained.
HOSA’s blood drive prepares club members for many other skills, such as community service, having a good presence, handling stressful situations better, as well as adjusting quickly to new environments. Mrs Reid also explains “This is a good program for students who want to be involved in the medical field.”
