“You can’t be stuck on the past when your future is so bright you gotta patch up your pain and live your life.”-Rod Wav

Genesis Kelley is freshman here at Prairie high school and is known for her bubbly personality and excelling in her advanced classes. She plans to be as involved in prairie as she can during her high school career. This includes ASB, volleyball, as well as exploring what else prairie has to offer as she figures out her career path. The seniors she looks up to inspire her to make an impact here at prairie. She wants fellow peers to remember her as a leader and a contributor to our school. She also wishes to excel in all her English and science classes.

Genesis’s determination and drive in school is apparent, however, her older brother; out of four siblings; is the only person in her family to graduate high school. Her brother is her number one fan and role model. He not only supports her, but pushes her to be as successful as she can in both sports and academics. The pressure on Genesis to break this generational tie is a great deal. Despite all factors though, she’s committed to graduating early and being the first woman in her family to finish high school.

Trades and cosmetology are two career options Genesis is thinking about for after high school. However she has always wanted to be an activist and public speaker. She is very opinionated and thinks her voice is one of her biggest strengths. If she could, she would speak out against specific parenting styles which she is passionate about. Being a young opinionated girl in high school has not always treated her kindly, but as she got older she learned how to present her opinion in order to be taken seriously and maturely.
