Did you know Prairie high school hosts FCA (Fellowship for Christians Athletes)
Club once a week on B days? If you didn’t, you do now!
FCA is hosted by Nick Merrit, Jabari Bickham, and Callen McChesney
These leaders prioritize creating a safe space for christians to express their faith openly with their peers. Co-leader Sophomore Callen McChesney explains ‘’If any one is struggling its important to come and speak were a great support group’’
FCA is an amazing community builder because whether you’re Christian or not, it’s an open community to build fellowship. This club allows everyone to have a voice and be vulnerable with where they are in their faith and it allows people to feel comfortable in sharing fellowship and gospel. Something that is very important about this community is the culture and diversity. Everyone comes together from different backgrounds and shares testimonial experience and struggles.
Even if you’re not a believer it’s an amazing experience to start without judgment.
Fellowship for Christians athletes has been going on since Prairie started. In the past few years the club started off small with only 15-20 people. Junior Jabari Bickham expressed “such a pure moment was the first club we held this year had over 100 participants’’ Part of this club’s success is because of the amazing leadership being there for the newcomers to ask questions and be vulnerable As a new participant you can expect a speaker of the week and bible verse that with be the foundation of the topic and express relation to the verse and maybe even personal experience they try to relate to the students and make everyone feel welcome. If you come, Free bibles are provided. Make sure to register on Minga!
