Micki Moss, a nurse at Prairie High School and culinary teacher Pedlar discuss food allergy awareness and protocols to handle allergic reactions in situations efficiently.
Micki Moss describes food allergy ¨Is when you actually have what they call an anaphylactic reaction or an extreme reaction to ingestion or even exposure to a food¨. Food allergies are something that we need to pay attention to because they can cause highly allergic reaction symptoms that affect the humanś body.
A way that Micki recommends the school should share to students is ¨be aware of the foods that are considered highly alert; people that are highly allergic most likely provide options aside from those foods that they are allergic to, and overall making sure people don´t share foods is another big thing¨.
Mr. Pedlar is a culinary teacher at prairie high school and has worked in industry and post secondary culinary school. He knows the idea of food allergies ¨That itś something your body doesn’t agree with, that gives you some sort of bad reaction.¨
Pedlar advise non-allergic individuals that if their friends or classmates have an allergic reaction to foods such as Tree nuts, Dairy, Gluten, Shellfish, and much more is to¨Be sympathetic to them, understand their allergies, and not share with them¨.
