Juniors, Aaliah Yoenyuthy and Nathaniel Jarrett share their current thoughts on social media trends. Especially the popular take on trends of squishy toys called, “Needohs.”
According to Yoenyuthy, She believes, ”Needohs are trending because they’re toys that people find stress relieving and pretty affordable.” Based on both student opinions on trends, they observed social media platforms that show constant trendy ideas that are affecting student’s ability to learn in class and get distracted.
Yoenyuthy exclaims that, “Trends can affect student ability to learn because it distracts people from focusing strictly on academics.”
Jarrett is interested in keeping up with the trends as well and thinks that social trends take student attention away from studies and can even fit in projects at school that can be engaging to people and not just a distraction if it’s a learning opportunity. For example, Jarrett says, “I did a statistics project based on the “67” term that was trending.”
Jarrett also finds needohs enjoyable because, “They are fun to play with and the quality is satisfying.”
Based on both student’s opinion on trends, they both agree that it can be useful if it interests them and or can be a life hack of something beneficial.
