Music can have strong control over one’s mood and energy, so choosing the right playlist before a game is important.
Before a Game players should feel motivated and energetic. Coach Sylvester Green says, “You should have a mindset of a warrior before a game.” When asking with prairie athletes what song they would put on a pre-game hype playlist we got a variety of answers. Artists ranging from EBK to Drake to Niki Minaj showing genres of hip-hop, rap, and trap music to motivate our prairie students.
Music before a game is important to put yourself in the right mindset. Prairie cheerleader Audrina Clay added the song “Headlines” by Drake and said it gives her an adrenaline rush before performing. Coach Green states the importance of pre-game music and says, “Music gets the athletes ready for the game because it helps them focus on the plays” and “Drowns out everything else and creates that special moment for them.” This shows you it’s more than just songs but it’s a tool to help athletes get in the right headspace and focus on energy and motivation before competing.
Overall prairie athletes have added many songs to this playlist. It shows the importance of music and also the variety we have within the school.
