Prairie’s dance team is preparing to compete in local dance competitions starting in January. This will be their first time competing since 2023.
The dancers on the dance team have been working incredibly hard to build technique and endurance to prepare for this year’s competition season. Dancers have been practicing since summer on perfecting their technique and tricks that can be utilized during competition.“We’ve been pushed to the limit because our coaches know what we can do versus what we want to do.” Dancer, Zoe Norton says. Since football season ended, the team has been working six hours a week on their routines to ensure that they are clean.
Along with building technique, the team has also been working hard to make personal connections with each other and to make sure the team is working as a unit. “There is no segregation between JV and Varsity and we make sure everyone feels welcome.” Coach Alexis Stiffler says. The team holds team bondings once a month which greatly helps the team’s connection, especially when dancing together. It has taught them to work together in and out of dance practice.
The dance team will start competing in January and will continue into the end of March. That being said, all the competitions are local, so come out and support Prairie’s dance team!
