Deputy Quiggle Prairie High School’s resource officer has a new furry friend at home. After kids and staff found a cat and saved it the morning of November 12.
Deputy Quiggle was in a meeting when she heard someone had found a kitten outside. She immediately decided to see it before it was taken away. To her surprise, the kitten was already settled in her office. It had some roast beef from Brandon and a box with a blanket in it.
The kitten’s charm was irresistible. Some people described him as “so cute and little”, Assistant Secretary Stephine Brown said. Students and staff worked together to rescue the kitten, who was initially trapped under the man lift. After about 30 minutes of trying to get in, they managed to bring him in. Deputy Quiggle added that it was a team effort.
The question then became, who would take Nugget home? Stephine initially planned to take the cat home, but Deputy Quiggle wanted him more. She let her take him. Despite being a self-proclaimed “dog person,” Deputy Quiggle couldn’t resist the kitten’s charms. “He’s really cute,”deputy Quiggle said.
The name “Nugget” stuck because Deputy Quiggle kept calling him Little Nugget, and Maddie did the same. Maddie called him a little nugget, so they just went with it.
Nugget has seamlessly integrated into Deputy Quiggle’s home. “Oh, man, he, uh, my dog is obsessed with him, and he’s obsessed with my bird and the fish,” she shared. While there was an initial adjustment period with her boyfriend’s cat, Nugget has now made friends with everyone.
