Prairie High School elects Everett Klodt as the new athletic director for the 2025-2026 school year. He is selected for the position after several rounds of interviews, filling the role left vacant when Mrs. Watts becomes the head principal.
Klodt is someone who genuinely cares about kids and sports. He states, “Being an athletic director has always been a dream of mine,” demonstrating his strong commitment to his role. His passion for this field begins in his youth, influenced by his aunt, who is an athletic director at Hawkinson High School. He has always been interested in education and leadership. Before taking on his current role, he serves as an assistant principal at Lauren Middle School and is the dean of students at Cascade Middle School. These experiences help him develop the skills necessary for his new position.
Since stepping into his role this year, Klodt implements many positive changes. One notable program he starts is called the spirit walks. During these events, students from various teams walk around the school and visit classrooms to promote upcoming games and themes. “The spirit walks increase attendance at the games and involve the football team more in the school,” varsity football head coach Junior Miller shares when asked about Klodt’s impact on the season. These initiatives strengthen the school community and make sports more engaging for students.
Mr. Klodt also emphasizes the importance of students’ connection to their sports and activities. He wants every student to participate and enjoy their time at school. He has a special fondness for Prairie because he grows up in the Brush Prairie area, even recalling walking the halls of Prairie when he was just six years old. To him, the school’s culture matters greatly. Coach Miller also highlights Klodt’s communication skills, saying, “He is on top of the grades especially for the players,” which shows that he cares about students’ academic success and overall well-being.
In summary, Klodt is a dedicated athletic director committed to making a positive difference for students and the school community. His passion for sports, education, and student development shines through in everything he does. Whether through new initiatives like the spirit walks or his strong connection to Prairie’s culture, he works to create a fun and supportive environment. His leadership helps make this school year memorable and successful for all students involved in sports.
