Presso Coffee Co. is downsizing, closing its Vancouver and Portland location while keeping its doors open in Camas cafe, at 2011 SE 192nd Ave, Suite 103. The Vancouver shop at 13011 NE Fourth Plain Blvd, open for seven years, closed at the end of 2025, and the Portland location at 2020 N McClellan St, open for eight years, recently closed on January 31st, 2026. The owner said that despite trying to add creativity to drinks and hosting seasonal specials, economic challenges and the personal toll of running multiple locations made downsizing necessary. The start of the New Year provided the perfect moment for a reset.
The decision to close the Vancouver and Portland locations stemmed largely from lease-related issues and financial pressure. As lease came up for renewal, owners chose not to extend the lease, focusing instead on sustaining the Camas cafe. Over the years. Both locations became more than coffee shops; they hosted community events, worship nights, and neighborhood gatherings, strengthening local connections.“ I went to one of the gamenights held at the Vancouver location,” said Lisa Morshynina, a senior at Prairie High school “and it brought people together and felt genuine and meaningful”. For customers in the community, the closure means saying goodbye to spaces where creative drinks and meaningful moments came together.
Operational challenges also played a role in the closures. Rising cost, shifts in foot traffic, and staffing constraints made it increasingly difficult to keep multiple locations running smoothly. Regular patrons noticed shorter hours and fewer staff in recent months, signaling that these shops were under strain. Yet, the cafe had become well-loved for inventive drinks, welcoming atmosphere, and community engagement, making them a bright spot in the neighborhoods.“ I’ll really miss the Vancouver location because it was so close and perfect for grabbing my morning coffee.” said Tiffany Truderung, teacher at Prairie High School “Now I’ll have to find a new spot, which isn’t ideal. Plus, it was a great place to meet up with friends and just hang out, so that’s going to change for us”.
The owners emphasized that running multiple locations took a significant personal toll on them and their family. Even with creativity and dedication, the effort was not enough to offset financial and operational pressures. Downsizing was necessary not only to preserve their well- being but also to ensure the long-term survival of the business. The New Year offered a natural point to step back, reflect, and rest the company’s focus.
For the local community, the closure marks the end of cherished gathering places, and many will miss the inventive drinks in those communities, friendly atmospheres, and the community events that made the shops so special. “ I really hope the Presso Coffee shop in Camas stays open. I’d love to see the owners keep creating their unique drinks and continue building that sense of community,” said Tiffany Truderung. “It’s what makes the cafe special” The Camas cafe remains open, allowing Presso Coffee to continue serving loyal customers while maintaining a sustainable operation. While these closures close a chapter, the joy, creativity, and connections built over seven and eight years in Vancouver and Portland will be remembered, and Presso Coffee Co. moves forward with renewed focus.
