The annual Yuletide Bazaar was held at Prairie on November 29th, 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. and organized by the PHS band to fundraise for their program through fun and festivities.
A decade old tradition still present to this day, the Yuletide Bazaar continues to attract large crowds of vendors, band associates, and community members eager to help the school and perfect their holiday shopping. The event was held between both the main gym and the middle gym, as well as the commons. Two-hundred plus vendor and donation tables were set up and were very successful according to the collection of buyers. “I think there will be way more people next year because the lines were already so long this year,” Freshman trombone player Ayla Mash says. “I think it’ll most impact the band with all the fundraising money, it definitely helps with future trips and support for the band.”
Aside from the band performance, members of the band also worked in the cafeteria and along with the vendors. “It was a lot of work because there were many different roles to help with,” Ayla Mash says. “Everyone had a job, like working with the vendors and helping at the tables.”
In addition to supporting the program, the bazaar was an opportunity for people to donate to the North County Community Food Bank and the senior class, as well as buy from local small businesses and vendors. “It’s a great way to support local businesses and vendors,” bazaar attendee Gail McLean says. “Seeing both new and returning vendors is always fun, and the price ranges and variety in items guarantees you’ll find something worth your while.”
McLean mentions she will definitely attend next year, and Mash mentions her excitement about getting to know the vendors again, proving the impact and expectation of fun surrounding the holiday season and the Yuletide Bazaar.
