Prairie High School’s ASB is putting on their annual toy drive now through December 10th to ensure that every kid gets a toy this holiday season.
This toy drive is extremely important and anyone that donates is helping a great cause. With inflation issues, it’s getting harder and harder for many families to get presents under their tree. With this drive, anyone can help those families by donating toys to their children and ensuring that they have a wonderful Christmas. “Walk in other people’s shoes and just know that everybody deserves to be happy on a holiday.” Winter Carnival lead, Itzel Contreras Montiel says.
In years passed, ASB has put on the toy drive but they have found that it is difficult to fully encourage students to donate. This year however, they were able to find a unique approach to inspire students to donate. They came up with the idea to use staff punishment as a reward for toy donations. “What better way is a competition? Especially involving teachers.” ASB student, Emery Sullivan says. With a reward system and more advertising, it is helping bring people to donate.
All in all, it is not too late to donate; every toy counts! All you have to do is go to the store, pick out any toy for any age, and drop it in one of the boxes by the main office unwrapped. Nothing is better than seeing kids happy on Christmas and you have the opportunity to let it happen. Don’t forget to donate to the staff member you want to see get pranked!
