Esteban Lucero

Esteban Lucero, Staff Writer

Think back to that amazing food truck with those delicious tacos… Esteban has something even better, sopes. Sopes is a Mexican tortilla cake that has all the regular taco toppings, but it has that fluffy cake part to top it off. Esteban loves this dish most of all because “my mom puts a lot of effort into making it,” Esteban said.

Esteban Lucero is a senior. His favorite class is math with Mr. Spencer because “Spencer puts on a lot of games and always makes it fun.” He is also a hard-working student with many AP Classes already under his belt; AP World, Lang, and Gov being some he’s already taken. His favorite memories at Prairie are of him and his friends “screwing around” in areas of the school most don’t see.

He spends a lot of his time driving around Portland with his friends, wrestling, or playing video games. His normal games are Phasmophobia or Rainbow Six Siege. As for sports, he doesn’t only wrestle, but he's played basketball and baseball throughout his childhood. Either playing games or at the senior living center trying not to get on the bad side of the elderly while working, Esteban tries to stay busy.

Family is an important part of his life. He spends a lot of time caring for his younger brother. Also, he camps out often with his father in the wilderness. “My family means a lot to me, my mom came from poverty so my parents really want to see me succeed and be able to provide for my family.”

After high school, the University of Oregon immediately came to his mind. “U of O was a big part of my childhood with me and my dad spending a lot of time watching football games there.” Eventually, Esteban wants to either be a lawyer or go to trade school to work with his uncle.
