At the Tacoma Dome’s annual State wrestling tournament, Senior and ASB president Faith Tarrant from Prairie High School became Clark County’s first 4x State champion on January 21st, 2025 at 235 pounds.
Wrestling has always been a part of Faith’s life. Her first introduction to the sport was at age five. Throughout her life, she’s had many coaches guide her to be the best she can be.
The wrestling community has helped her gain the confidence and positivity she needed. They’re her motivation and the people who strive for her well-being. The wrestling community can be seen as one big family, and their support goes not only on the mat but also off the mat.
No goal is untouchable in her eyes. “You have to be the person to want it,” Said Senior Wrestler Faith Tarrant “Never let anybody tell you that you can’t do something because you can do anything you want to do.”
Even with the wrestling season over at Prairie High School, she continues her yearning for wrestling at a national mat club called Askeo 50 minutes away.
However, Faith had a big struggle this season. During Summer she suffered from a broken collarbone. Some fears of competing might’ve been out of the question, but with Faith’s determination to keep going and end her year off strong, she didn’t allow that to stop her.
With a broken collarbone, she played all her matches and went undefeated with her stats being 14-0 this season.
Her overall stats of her wrestling journey at Prairie is 119-3.
With this year being her senior year many feelings were being processed at her last match, with her leaving coaches and teammates “The wrestling community at Prairie is amazing,” said Senior Wrestler Faith Tarrant, “I think that is something that we don’t talk about enough”
Faith plans to go to College and potentially become a child advocate lawyer. However, she wants to pursue wrestling competitively for the rest of her college career and become a coach later on to carry on her love for wrestling.
Even after her becoming Clark County’s first 4x State Champ, her story will continue with her next dream of becoming a national champion.
