As the new year approaches, many of us students at Prairie may start thinking of some goals to work towards achieving in the new year.
Though making New Year resolutions is common, it is less common to see them followed through.¨The excitement at the start of the year can fade quickly and life gets in the way.¨ Senior Laura Nguyen explains. Her goals are to stay more organized, improve her time management, and read more books. She plans to keep her goals specific and measurable. With discipline and consistency, she believes her resolutions will be achievable.
Some people on the other hand choose to not set goals at all. Lorelei Marienscu a Senior at Prairie shares that she thinks it is good to set New Year’s resolutions especially if you work hard to follow through with them. “Most people get overwhelmed because they make unrealistic goals,” Marienscu says. This is likely the main reason why people end up failing at their goals. Her New Year’s resolutions are to “Surround myself with good people and put more effort into my relationships.” She will keep this goal in her mind throughout the year and follow through it by staying away from “fake people” and spending more time with loving people.
All in all the new year is a great place for new beginnings. It may look different for every falcon whether it’s starting a new hobby, reading new books, playing a new sport, stopping a bad habit, or dedicating more time to be with family and friends. Whatever it may be here’s to hope of a great new year!
