Being new to a school, especially as a teacher, is not as easy as it seems. Mrs. Engelbart, a fairly new addition to the Prairie staff, has committed her teaching to personal finance and business in room 307. Engelbart has only been at Prairie for two years but she is already positively impacting students.
Engelbart was always interested in finances and marketing and chose to follow her passion into college. She is very well educated, having an associate’s and bachelor’s degree. Engelbart was a branch manager at Chase Bank for seven years, fueling her interest in this career even more.
Engelbart has always had a large drive to help young adults make smart financial decisions. She strives to make every student succeed and have the knowledge they need for their future. She has a great relationship with all her students, stating that “I like to get to know my students and see how I can help them with their plans and make sure that they achieve them.”
Engelbart has made many huge accomplishments in the two years she has been with Prairie: building her curriculum from scratch, starting her school business club called DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), and in the next few months, setting up a new program/class for students to take to be able to work at a credit union (with the help of Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Woehr).
Engelbart’s dedication to her students is shown through her strong work ethic and persistence with each student, which can be seen by one of her top students, Claire Neuman. Neuman is in Engelbarts’ business class as well as a T.A. for her personal finance class. Neuman has always been impressed with her consistency and success with students and recognizes her amazing ability to make such hard and complex concepts easy to understand. “She is understanding and is always pushing you to do your best work so you succeed in her class,” states Neuman. Engelbart will continue to make relationships with each student and create a fun and focused learning environment during the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.
