The Prairie High School Esports Team made history on December 12th, 2024, by clinching the state championship title in Valorant. This is a significant achievement for the esports community at Prairie. The team, composed of super-talented players from various grades, showcased remarkable teamwork and skill throughout the year.
In a thrilling final match, the Prairie High team won with an exceptional comeback win. The match concluded with a final score of 2-1, securing their victory for the team. “They were the higher seed and got to pick a map first, which benefits the most,” said Brasharee White. They were down 0-1 after the first match, and player Adrian Gallardo stated, “I was very scared, very nervous. I had never really played in a game like that before.”
“I was thinking, how are we going to take this home and how are we going to win this,” stated Gallardo, highlighting the importance of this game. The team knew that they had to win the next two maps, so White reminded the team, “We were expecting this, and it was far from over.” getting everyone ready for the next map. With the help of Cody Sigler, getting the team back in gear and winning that map. The team celebrated their victory after winning on the last map.
With the championship win, the Prairie High School Esports Team not only brings home a trophy but also will inspire fellow students to explore the world of competitive gaming.
