Prairie boys basketball team enjoyed an amazing night celebrating our seniors! On Friday, Feb 7, Prairie hosted Mountain View High School boys basketball. The seniors celebrated tonight include Riley Burke, Denton Dearborn, and Jared Femling. This game was to decide it all, the league title. Prairie’s own Benjamin N scored a go-ahead three-pointer in the last 20 seconds bringing Prairie to a five-point lead, which in turn led the boys to the win. Burke says “Walking on a senior night with my family felt so special to be supported and loved.” This was the best way to send off our seniors on their special night.
The team is losing definite talent for next year’s roster, however, they have plans to come back even stronger next year. Out of the team’s 5 starters, only one (Burke) is a senior, which means that almost the full squad will come back next season bigger, stronger, and even more talented than they already are. Jamir Jones, a sophomore starter for the team says, “The biggest aspect of the team we are losing is the rebounding and physicality that Riley brings to the team.” However, the adjustment for next year should be smooth. Prairie Boys Basketball hopes to defend its league championship and make a run at state in the following year!
Along with it being boys basketball senior night, this last Friday was also the cheerleader senior night, and at half time the unified basketball team got their special moment as well. The seniors on the cheer squad include Clara K, Ellie O, Kylie H, Hailee J, Gabiella T, and Medina H. It was amazing to see all of our seniors lined up out there being celebrated. The seniors on the unified squad include Judah B, Ben G, Clara K, Teason, Ava B, Reece H, Kimberly A, Lucas F, and Jiana R. What an amazing time it was to come together to celebrate our seniors! We all wish the Seniors an amazing rest of their senior year and an amazing future ahead. Go Falcons!
