On Tuesday, December 3rd, the Praire High School varsity boys basketball team went into their first game, against Battle Ground High School. These boys have been working hard over the summer to get in shape for the season, especially for the rivalry game. A rivalry game is always an event filled with high energy, these games aren’t about winning or losing, they are about showing school pride and spirit.
With this game being the first of the season, it’s proven to not be a perfect game. “The hardest part was definitely just the stamina, running up and down the court,” said Carson Morningstar (20). With the best part of the game for this team being good positioning, there always is going to be a hard part, which is their defense. As a team, these boys could have been a lot more confident to exceed better defense.
Going into the game this team’s main goal was to win by as many points as possible. As the game progresses it becomes a test of the players of mental toughness, and endurance. The end score was 88-61, throughout the whole game they kept making many victories such as every defense stop, and each basket that was met.
“Prove a point and walk out,” said Denton Dearborn (10). This team was not going to let up and give BG even a sliver of hope, their goal was to win it in every possession. This team put blood sweat and tears into this game, and they showed that they have remarkable athletic skills.
