Sixteen-year-old Junior, Deven Vigue, leads the Prairie High School football team to a (5-4) (3-2 league) 2024 season as starting quarterback.
Wearing number 3, for the second season, and first year starting for the Prairie Falcons as quarterback. Vigue who plays for the love of the sport, has been said to, “do nothing but help the program moving forward,” Stephanie Watts.
Watts, Prairie’s Athletic Director for the second year now, speaks very highly of Vigue. “Mobility, he has the ability to get out of tough situations and still gain yardage, he’s fast, and he’s strong and not afraid to get hit.”
Vigue has been nominated twice this season for The Columbian Athlete of the Week. Week 8 and also week 3, after defeating Prairie’s rivals, the Battle Ground Tigers, throwing the game-winning touchdown with 5 seconds left to play on the game clock.
“It’s cool to be recognized for your successes like it makes me feel good,” Vigue states.
Getting ready for next season, with the help of Coach Junior Miller, whose first year as Prairie’s head coach was also this season. Vigue says that there are things to fix up and get better on. But with Vigue’s versatility, he can only grow from here forward with his team having his back all the way.
Speaking about the future Vigue could have, Athletic Director Watts says, “The sky’s the limit with Deven, he has the drive, he has the talent, if he wants to do something he’ll put his mind to it and do it”
Wishing to play after high school Deven told us, “as far as life takes me.” His football career will go.
