Maya Bohac is a standout senior at Prairie High School. From leading the dance team to volunteering at her church, Bohac embodies the spirit of a well-rounded student. Her dedication extends beyond academics, encompassing leadership roles in her dance team, church, and community
For two years, Maya captained the Prairie High School dance team, maintaining a varsity position. Her 15 years as a committed studio dancer have instilled drive and dedication. Her commitment to the sport has brought her many opportunities and valuable lessons throughout the years. ¨It really taught me to have my own drive and dedication,¨ Bohac says, ¨ if I really want to make something happen I know that I can do that for myself.¨ Her achievements have earned her scholarships, awards, and recognition from college coaches
Her success goes beyond dance and lies in the classroom as well. Maya has maintained a 3.85 GPA throughout high school earning her a position in the National Honors Society. NHS has helped Maya to ¨push myself to do my best in school and keep my grades up¨ while also fostering and growing her service for others. ¨She would volunteer to come in and help me even when she didn’t have to and didn’t have a class at Prairie,¨ NHS advisor Colleen Homola remarks
Maya’s commitment to her church, Liberty Bible Church, is equally impressive. She has many roles in her church, volunteering with kids as well as the church’s coffee bar. She helps lead the children’s church on Sunday mornings. “I really enjoy getting to interact with little kids and just be a leader for them,” Maya adds, “I love to see their smile when you make a relationship with them that lasts.” Volunteering at her church has also helped Maya grow as a person, influencing her selflessness and service to others while also growing her community around her. “Volunteering at church has helped me grow and realize that we need to be putting others before ourselves,” Bohac notes, “I love the family and community I’ve made while serving.”
Maya has big plans ahead of her after graduation. She has committed to going to the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho where she will be majoring in Pre-Law. She plans to use her major to pursue a career in research in a law office. Impressively, she has also accepted a position on University of Idaho’s D1 dance team. Maya Bohacs journey through Prairie High School is a testament to hard work, dedication, and a passion for making a difference in the community around her.
