Meet Efe Otoikhian, a fellow student at Prairie High School, and this week’s Senior of the Week! Efe is freshly 18 and has spent all four years here at Prairie and is leaving a remarkable impact on the peers around her, as she sets an example of being understanding, delightful, and outgoing while keeping up with her commitment to education, and academics.
Efe participates in various other responsibilities here at Prairie including, being a second-year National Honor Society member and the director of public relations in ASB, where she helps coordinate activities and events and connects with outside organizations. She’s volunteered at local math challenges, winter carnivals, and set-ups at all school dances.
Although Efe succeeds at balancing being a student and focusing on her academic future, she thrives in her outside life as well. Efe greatly values her family and friends and in her free time, enjoys spending time at home cooking chicken stew with, and for her family of three consisting of her younger sister, and mom. Her mom makes jollof rice, a Nigerian dish that in particular Efe loves! While being at home she also talks on the phone with one of her closest friends Alissa. Efe states “Something I do often when I’m at home is facetiming Alissa while building my legos and chit chatting.”
Another activity Efe does is driving around with her friends, hanging out, talking, and getting black rock before heading to her to go to grocery stores, Trader Joe’s, and Chuck’s Produce where she shares her favorite finds. “At Trader Joe’s my favorite thing to get is the kale and spinach Greek yogurt dip, to eat with the Trader Joes Barbeque chips.”
Post graduation, Efe will Major in Architecture, and Minor in business at a four-year university. Efe is a great example of a Prairie Falcon and with her hard work and dedication, she will succeed in all aspects of life!
