This week, Prairie High School senior Chailya Robinson, 17, is the senior of the week. Through her commitment to academics, athletics, and leadership, Chailya has left an indelible impact on her school.
Chailya has cheered on Prairie’s varsity cheer team each of her four years of high school, serving up her spirit and dedication to school spirit. In her second year, she was an athlete for the second time, adding varsity dance and varsity tennis to her season and a long list of accomplishments.
Chailya also excels academically in addition to her athletic feats. She is the treasurer of the National Honor Society, where she helps coordinate activities and manage the organization’s budget. This year marks her second year serving as a member of the ASB.
Chailya said, “Meeting my friends I have now. We’ve had a lot of fun memories together.” When asked what her favorite memory was from high school. Although she met her friends later on in High School, her close-knit group of friends has been the center of her joy and support.
A dog mom to her 13-year-old pup Chloe, Chailya enjoys spending time with her pet outside of her busy schedule. “Mostly I hang out with my friends, I sleep, I hang out with my dog Chloe,” she said when asked what she does with her free time. She also likes to run and hang out with her group of friends.
Chailya’s family has long ties to Prairie High School. Her older brother, who is 19, is also a proud Prairie graduate. Following Chailya’s lead, his sister has embraced and made her high school experience her own.
Going forward, Chailya hopes to go to a university post-graduation but is still researching her options. With her experience and success in all she does, it’s guaranteed she’ll do well in whatever she pursues.
