Prairie High School will be hosting its annual bring your kid to work day on April 24, 2025. There will be fun activities and lesson plans for the kids, so be ready to see littles running around!
Ever since long ago, the tradition to bring your kid to work on the last Thursday of April has been a big hit, with many schools having fun activities planned for the kids, including Prairie. Kristin Wennerlind, a librarian at Prairie and organizer of this event, explains to us what plans she has for the kids saying, “We will be having 2 science lessons, Activities with the photography class, as well as the robotics team and and involved ROTC. We also had lots of coloring and popsicles!” Sounds like a busy but productive day for the kids to learn something new
With planning any event there’s always complications. Patti Gaines, Child development teacher shares some complications she experiences when planning this event, she says, “ You know there is always a challenge when you bring in other peoples kids and not knowing what kind of personalities they have and that kind of thing, and also some of our equipment not coming in time was a fail, but overall I think we did really good.” This shows how much they want everything to be perfect for the kids.
The kids learn many new things when participating in bring your kid to work day, but they also get to see a glimpse of their future. “It gives them an opportunity to see different aspects of being at the high school like we get to go to classrooms, and see robotics along with science lessons, so they get to experience new things. It’s also more interesting than sitting in your parents’ room all day for some.” Wennerlind mentions. “ I think that the kids that come are elementary and middle schoolers for the most part so I think that they get to see what their parents do all day and they also get to experiment with the things that some of the teachers put together.” Gaines adds.
This is an exciting day for the kids and the best ending with popsicles and a sunny day. What do you think falcons? Would you want to participate in this activity?
