Spring Break is just around the corner, and with it comes the highly anticipated Spring Color Wars Assembly at Prairie. This exciting event, scheduled for Friday, March 28 promises to bring together students and staff to celebrate the awaited arrival of Spring Break and add to school spirit with friendly class and faculty competitions.
The Spring Color Wars Assembly will kick off just after the end of the sixth period in the Main Gym. Students will be divided into their classes, each with an “established theme and designated color,” Ruth Sprenger added. Each class will be encouraged to wear its assigned color and will have provided props and small items during the assembly.
Ruth Sprenger, the lead of the Spring Color Wars Assembly, and her co-lead, Hayden Devine, have been working alongside their seven to eight-member committee to plan an engaging and competitive assembly packed full of fun games and activities. This includes new additions by Sprenger who prefers to invent original games rather than repeating past ones. “I think it makes them less predictable,” Ruth adds.
As fun as the games may be, encouraging participation can be a difficult task. Ruth took this opportunity to include members of staff as teams or just participants for each game. “This way, students feel less embarrassed if someone they look up to or know is doing it as well,” Sprenger adds, “I try to make games easily inclusive to all individuals, not too hard physically or mentally. Just fun games!”. With these high expectations, we can look forward to great games and competitions among students and staff.
The Spring Color Wars Assembly is more than just a competition for points; it’s a celebration of school spirit and community. ASB Advisor Oliver Root highlights the bittersweet nature of this event, noting, “It’s our last assembly of the year, and while it’s fun to see seniors go all out, it’s also a little sad.” This assembly unites all classes, creating lasting memories through spirited activities and games. Ruth emphasizes the joy of these moments, stating, “Creating these silly memories, dressing up in fun ways, and watching crazy games with all of these people that you have grown to love is incredibly special.”
As the Spring Color Wars Assembly approaches, anticipation is building among staff and students alike. The Spring Color Wars Assembly promises a vibrant display of teamwork, school spirit, and energy, creating lasting memories before Spring Break.
