Heading into this year’s winter sports season, Prairie’s Band is preparing to play their rehearsed songs for basketball games. Introducing Prairie High School’s new Elite Basketball Pep Band, which includes around 15 of its most involved members!
Each year, all band members participate in each basketball game to play music in the stands to ensure the crowd is engaged, and to keep up the spirit. However, this year there is an exciting change, the new and improved Elite Basketball Pep Band is upcoming, which includes a select group of members who are highly dedicated and confident in their ability to fulfill their duties. “We had a lot of our executive board in charge of selecting members from each instrument group that are committed enough to show up to all basketball games and play pep, it is usually really crowded with the whole band, so we wanted to section off to groups of people who would stick to always being there,” Junior Aubrey Grier shares how these members were chosen.
At Basketball Games it is largely student-led, which can be very fun, yet it holds multitudes of responsibilities to guarantee everyone is on the same page and doing their job. “I am very excited about this new group of band members, yes it is a lot of responsibility but I know we are all capable of staying on task and having so much fun. Especially knowing the people selected are all willing to be at all games, not just being asked to do so,” Senior Ruth Sprenger.
This exceptional band group will not be in full swing until the 2024-2025 basketball season starts. “I feel it will go well. Every once in a while, we have a few students who aren’t very enthusiastic about pep, and with this new group, we all have the same ideas. With the seller groups, I know we will all show up to the games, which is very exciting,” Junior Aubrey Grier states in her predictions on how it will play out.
These members are eager to start their season and show off their skills, good luck Falcons!
