Percy Jackson and the Olympians, one of the best-known book series in America gets a proper adaptation from Disney and Rick Riordan the book writer of the series, and producer of the new Disney Plus original series.
The Percy Jackson series is not new to getting a live-action adaptation. Back in the early 2010s, the series got a horrific adaptation that had butchered what Rick Riordan had envisioned, but just a few months ago Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson Tv series was released on December 19 with overwhelming great reviews. Many people who have read the book series love the show and even people who haven’t read the books like the show, but there are a few that have given valid reasons for the show disappointing them, and not living up to their expectations.
Student Sammy Chavarria from Gresham High School has read the books, but has yet to watch the show when asking Sammy if he has any interest in watching the show later on this is what he had to say “At first when I heard that they were going to be making a new adaptation of Percy Jackson I didn’t really care to watch the show, but when I heard that Rick Riordan the creator of Percy Jackson was producing the show I started to show interest; I just haven’t gotten around to watching the show, but I will be watching it.” Even fans of the books are interested in watching the school, but that doesn’t mean everyone who likes the books wants to watch the show and has concerns that many of the other fans have with the adaptation. With the show rating a high 92% on rotten tomatoes from critics and 80% with the audience, what are the concerns that fans of the book series have? And what are the standouts from the people who have watched the show?
When talking to other fans of the book series, and what their thoughts were good and negative about the Disney original Percy Jackson and the Olympians, many had the same things to say about the show, but one stood out the most. Student Ethan LeRoy from Mountain View High School is one of these people who had concerns, and pointed out very valid reasons for these concerns. And this is what he wanted to tell “I always loved the Percy Jackson series, and when I was younger there were two adaptations that were movies but they sucked, and ultimately failed to bring what I and so many others loved about the books, so when I heard that they would be making this show I was excited but worried that the show would do the same thing that the movie had done, but I was wrong.” Just seeing how important this was for the fans to get an adaptation that was true to the books, and to Rick Riordan’s vision was a lot for Disney to do, but when the show had aired the overwhelming amount of love for the series was heard. Percy Jackson and the Olympians was the most searched show, and most watched series for a month, and just a little over a month the show had been renewed for a second season. Which the fans of the book and the show were wanting.
