Elliot Noye, a senior at Prairie High School, is releasing a new album. He has been working on this project since September of last year and claims to have put over 300 hours into it. The album is 10 tracks and 25 minutes long, making it a short yet compact listen. He says this is the greatest project he’s ever made and calls it his “magnum opus.” This project marks his third album in his discography.
Elliot has been making music since he was 12 years old, and he’s about to turn 18 now. He plays two instruments, the violin and the piano. He grew up in Vancouver, Washington and moved to Battle Ground, Washington at the age of 13. He has been to three high schools, those being Battle Ground High School, CAM Academy, and Prairie High School, in that order. He claims that it’s hard to find many people who make music like him due to Battle Ground not having many musicians. Due to this, he is a rather independent artist and works on all of his music by himself. When asked if this bothers him, he said that he likes it better this way as it only pushes him to work harder.
His new album comes out very soon on his 18th birthday, March 7, 2025. The album is titled “Being Soulless Won’t Bring You Solace”. As you can probably imagine, this title has a significant meaning behind it. “The meaning behind this title essentially means that if you have a bad outlook on life and existence, and if you carelessly make bad decisions that can have a negative impact on yourself and others, you’re never going to find peace for yourself. If you choose to be soulless, you’re never going to find solace,” explains Elliot. This title also has a homophone in it, as it utilizes wordplay with the two words “soulless” and “solace”. The album has two sides to it. The first side, or the first half of the album, is all about his struggles with past addictions, and Elliot’s troubles and reluctance to trust not only other people but himself too as he has impulsive disorder. Songs such as “Looking Over My Shoulder” and “Lies & Restrictions” are all about him struggling to trust other people. The song “Man In The Mirror” is a track about Elliot feeling self-hate due to his past mistakes and angrily going back and forth with himself. The second half of the album is all about his depression and anxiety from his burning curiosity about topics that can’t leave his mind, such as existentialism, the afterlife, and spirituality. This anxiety has taken a massive toll on Elliot in the past, as he suffered through a long existential crisis throughout most of his teenage years, which amounted to him feeling depressed throughout most of his teenage years. Songs like “I Can’t Rely On You” and “Somebody Answer Me” are all about it and go very in-depth about his perspective and how he feels about existence.
On a much brighter note, Elliot is in a way better place now and is no longer suffering through any of that anymore. The album ends with the final track, “Tired,” which, despite the name, is a very positive and feel-good song. This song serves as an epilogue to this project as it’s all about Elliot escaping addiction, escaping his existential crisis, escaping his self-hate and depression, and finding solace after a long fight. This album displays a massive contrast from Elliot’s older work, such as his first album “playing/Possum,” which, despite the project being subjectively good, is a very uncomfortable and disturbing listen, as you could tell he was in an awful place when he was working on it back in 2023. The second album, “Bridges Burn,” is a smooth transition from his first album to his new album, as it contained a couple of positive songs, yet you could still tell that he wasn’t at his best mentally. His third and newest album, however, is a promising and reassuring project for his mental well-being, as he sounds at his best and most in control from a mental standpoint, yet the quality of the music on this project is agreeably the best he’s ever put out. “As much as I love my first two albums, they both pale in comparison to the new one. It’s not even close for me,” exclaims Elliot.
