From humble beginnings to a multi-million dollar company Dave’s Hot Chicken made its first sales in an East Hollywood parking lot with a portable fryer and some foldable tables. After early success, Dave’s has hundreds of locations nationwide, one of which is 15 minutes from Prairie High School.
The Hazel Dell location had its grand opening on July 7, 2024. With pop culture-style artwork on the walls, colorful lights, and tasty food, it became an instant hit, especially among Prairie High School students. Large groups of students could often be found going for a late-night snack after many Friday night football games, or with smaller friend groups after school.
So how does Prairie High School feel about Dave’s? “Judah[Bullock] gave me one of his sliders and it was amazing,” Senior Riley Burke said when describing his first time. When asked how it compares to chicken restaurants like Chick-fil-A and Popeyes Riley said he prefers Dave’s. Even saying “Dave’s Hot Chicken is the best fast food place”. But some students like sophomore Zoey Cave prefer Chick-fil-A. “I’d rank it second with Chick-fil-A at number one, But it’s really close,” Sophomore Zoey Cave said after trying the Dave’s slider for the first time. So whether you like Dave’s Hot Chicken or not, it is undeniable that it has been a major success.
