The Prairie girls wrestling team competed in their district meet this last Saturday, February 2.

Although a tough meet with a lot of competitive competition, the girls were happy to get the opportunity to go to districts. Few made it to the 3rd and 4th place match, but unfortunately all opportunities to make it to the regional meet fell short with last minute losses. The girls were very upset, but also excited to compete again next year.

Freshman, Perla Hoxeng talked about the girls season as a whole. She said, “the season was great, we won every league duel except for league title, and we won a lot during tournaments.” Hoxeng also explained how much the team improved all the way from the beginning of the season.

As far as the district tournament went Hoxeng says, “we learned from districts how tough everyone gets when fighting for the top three spots.” She went into saying that even with loss, all the girls got to see some great wrestling as well as how they can improve for next year.

With high hopes to come out league champs in the following year, the girls also know their growth will improve as a team in the next season.
