The Prairie Cross Country team had a successful year, the boys placed first in districts and girls finished third. The team’s banquet took place at PHS on Wednesday, November 15th. Sophomore key players Meri Dunford and Luke Lund were recognized for their contribution to the team’s success.

State contender Luke Lund when asked about the season as a whole said it went very well and he does not hold any regrets. The teammate that had the greatest impact on Luke’s success was “Ty Kneeshaw, because he ran with me after practice to get ready for state and came to cheer me on at state.” Some rewards Luke received included, his third varsity letter, academic award, MVP, and GHSL district champion.

Meri Dunford, another Falcon who earned a trip to state described the season as “super successful and fun.” She was most proud of herself for making it to regionals and her placement in state. Meri’s biggest competition was Emily Felts from Fort Vancouver High School as they were neck and neck all year long.

Both players, Luke and Meri were very successful and so was the team as a whole.  Lund recaps, “everyone on the team supported each other and helped others succeed in every way they could.”
