The school year is coming to an end and many students are completing their last few projects and assignments in their classes. Prairie Preschool’s Special Projects students had their end of the year project on Wednesday, May 30th. We asked a couple of them to give us insight on how the project went.

Junior, Mckenna Bolander, explains that students in Special Projects are those who have been in Prairie Preschool for two years and received their certificate. They are given four big assignments throughout the year. When asked what the end of the year project was, Mckenna says, “We were in charge of teaching Preschool for the whole day. We are assigned to one group and created a lesson plan for the day just like a teacher would.” She adds that the theme this year was flowers. She says, “I was in the orange group, which is art. Our group chose to do flower paintings that included the kids’ handprints.” Mckenna shares that she really enjoyed the project and being in charge. She says, “It was a learning experience for me and I hope to find a job that involves children.”

Senior, Cassidy Purkey, says, “It was definitely my favorite project. A great way to end the school year.” She shares that the best part was being with the kids all day. She says, “I never get tired of working with them. Kids make me happy. They appreciate the little things and I love that about them.” Cassidy shares that she was in charge of teaching the purple group, which is science. For their lesson plan, they chose to teach the kids how to plant flowers. They were given flower seeds to plant and take home.

Prairie Preschool’s end of the year project was one of the many projects students completed and we hope you all get everything done before school is over!
